Long ago, around 1971, Marcello and Pelusa Marini opened their first restaurant named: “Marini’s Empanada House,” located on 1517 Westheimer in the Montrose area.

For two decades, the Marini Family grew in business, friends, and fame and were well-recognized for their empanadas as being “the best empanadas in the world.”

In 1985, on Good Friday, the business located on Westheimer went down in flames. The Marini Family lost everything.

Years passed and Marcello, with his employment at Telemundo 47, and his wife Pelusa, with her beautiful and delicious cakes, continued with the same optimistic strength collaborating in many events where the Hispanic presence was needed. But they never forgot that one day, they would open up the same business that made them famous with the help of Houstonians.

Years later, one of their sons, Sergio Alejandro Marini, along with his wife Gabriela, and children, (Alejandro, Sergio, Gabriela, and Marcello) became a part of the life of this new family tradition when they opened a new restaurant location in the beautiful city of Katy.

In 2007, Debbie (their daughter), with the help of her parents and siblings, opened the second location at 10001 Westheimer in the Westchase district.

In 2022, Sergio closed the Katy restaurant and opened the Empanada Kitchen, giving the community an opportunity to experience authentic Argentinian empanadas through catered events and an exciting new food truck.

All members of the Marini Family (including Marcello and Pelusa) are working hard to keep this unique tradition alive. So, come join us and be part of our family at our Houston Empanada House and Wallis Empanada Kitchen.
